"Senator Chuck Schumer is looking to stop hefty cuts to SNAP benefits. I am here to announce that I will not support a farm bill that doesn't address the cuts to SNAP. The cuts are part of a Republican-led effort and are due to happen this year. Schumer says the impact would be devastating. Schumer is now asking Republicans to work with Democrats on passing a farm bill that keeps benefits flowing. A farm bill that abandons hungry families and particularly hungry kids is not a serious farm bill. It's a non-starter for me. And as I said, SNAP is more than a policy or program. Its survival for about 135,000 New Yorkers."
