After Glastonbury experienced flash floods during a recent thunderstorm, today in Parliament I hoped to draw attention to the risks posed by these extreme weather events. I will continue to push to ensure that surface water and flash flooding risk are properly addressed.

"Today in Parliament, I wanted to once again highlight the issue of extreme weather with the Secretary of State, this time specifically about summer flash floods. Now just a couple of weeks ago, Glastonbury and the surrounding area was really badly hit during a severe thunderstorm. Several high street businesses were flooded, including the Library of Avalon, where several thousand books were sadly destroyed after water flowed in over the building's flood barriers. Now sadly I wasn't able to ask my question today, but I will keep pushing for the Minister to confirm what discussions he is having with his colleagues in Defra to ensure that surface water and flash flooding risk is properly addressed as part of the wider climate adaption strategy."
