NY1's Annika Pergament asked Republican candidate for governor Bruce Blakeman where he draws the line with the use of AI in politics after he released a campaign ad depicting an AI-generated Gov. Kathy Hochul.
"Well, everybody knows that's AI. Come on. Everybody knows it is. It's satire. We've had satire and humor in politics since George Washington's time. Anybody who thinks that that's Kathy Hochul, I use AI on myself. So look, the fact of the matter is AI is a very valuable tool in politics to communicate with people. It's been used by Democrats, Republicans, independents. Anybody that would have a problem with that, I think, is living back in a decade before AI has become now one of the ways to communicate with the public. And I think that basically, as long as the content is correct, and it is correct, there's nothing wrong with using AI."
