"We make monuments and monuments make us. If you had the time, the money, the official power, you were building monuments that were important to you. But alternately, if you didn't have the time, the money, and the official power, but you of course have power nonetheless, you're building your own monuments or you're gathering around those that exist to amplify your presence. If all of these kind of unintentional monuments are filling different American public spaces, what isn't being told?"
