We recently reached a $7 million settlement with a property management company for driving up rent prices, which impacted over 1,600 properties across Oregon. When landlords keep prices artificially high for working families, we’ll use every legal tool to hold them accountable.
"If you're a renter, this is really important for you. There's a company called RealPage, and they have a software program that allows landlords to illegally share rent pricing information, which then allows those same landlords to then raise up rent on you. We've been going after the companies and the landlords that have been using this software. This is the second settlement for $7 million to come back into Oregon for this behavior. This particular company managed 1,649 properties here in Oregon. We've got a handful of other companies that we're continuing to look at. We have incredible staff and attorneys here at the Oregon Department of Justice who are focused on making sure that we're protecting working families, and when people are being taken advantage, we're holding their feet to the fire. We're gonna continue to do this work, and I'm looking forward to giving you more updates as the year goes on."
