π¬ Cricket's carousel of misery
"There's a carousel of misery that happens with leadership in bad cricket teams or bad cricket cultures or unprofessional, whatever you want to call it, where you just kind of end up in the same way, coming back, the same people coming back over and over again, multiple times, right? And so Pakistan's new captain is Babur Azam. You know, there is another world where, you know, Babur Azam is a professional, he's a very smart cricketer, he's obviously very talented, him taking over would be good news. It's hard to see how this is good news though, right? He's been there before and it hasn't worked and England might be in a very similar situation with Joe Root. So something, there's like a special kind of how the cricket fans get in when that person comes around for the second and even sometimes the third chance of their captaincy and you end up just being like, what's the best case scenario for this? It doesn't suck as bad as last time. That's how your brain thinks. It might be wrong, Babur Azam or Joe Root, if he gets the job, might be fantastic. But it is a bit of a death spiral that you end up in as a fan. We're just like, I think we've done this already."
