Just my random thoughts on Poland.
"Okay, just a quick update. I'm in Poland heading towards the southeast corner towards the Ukrainian border crossing but it'll be two days before I get there. It's going to be sunny today and mild so I'm going to ride as much as I can today, legs all packed up. Just a few words about Poland. I really like Poland. I've been here a couple times before and have friends in Poland. My friend Paul from IndyPak helped map a route through Poland two years ago when right to Ukraine was on and it was a great route. But I find the Poles, I wonder whether they've been hurt over the years. The Nazis invaded, did terrible things and then Stalin did the same and the Soviets did even worse. But then when they joined NATO they got prosperity, a million people were living in the UK before Brexit. I sort of think they became the strong eastern side of NATO and they were seeing themselves as really important in NATO and they were and they are. They're a wonderful, strong growing nation, lots of young families, lots of productivity and there's a positive aspect but there's also a little bit of caution. Also, I don't speak a single word of Polish. I think they've been victims of propaganda from the Russians so they believe that if the Ukrainians are allowed to join the EU and join NATO that Poland's farmers will be able to compete with Ukrainian prices and I think they've been fed this information and some of the people are against Ukraine joining the EU. Now the president's pretty cool but the new prime minister seems to be very pro-Putin so it's a bit of a mess here at the moment and I don't think with the new prime minister that the Polish people are being well led. We'll see what happens but the people are nice and it's a safe country to ride in and I'm glad to be going through it. It's just a pretty big country. It takes a long time to get to the other side. Alright, more later, bye."
