U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA) said at a meet and greet that Texas GOP Senate candidate Ken Paxton would "be a good senator." Paxton has a history of scandals and controversies. Most recently, the Texas Tribune and ProPublica reported that Paxton may have committed voter fraud.
"Oh, I'm so glad you're running. I mean, we need more American first candidates like you. I was so excited when Ken Paxton won. He's going to be a good sign-up. I think he's going to be great. Do you think you guys are going to campaign together? I don't know. It just kind of depends. If I go down to Texas, I would go down to raise money. Yeah, sure. Of course. Yeah. So I don't know. I know he's going to be on D.C. next week. So I actually haven't met him. So I don't know if I can help him or not. Right, right. But it seems like if we work together or our candidates work together, you know. And I know most of the way we get surrogates in are people who are not on the ballot this cycle. So people who are going to come to Iowa to help are probably people who are not involved with their own campaigns. Yeah, like Senator Kennedy came for me a couple weeks ago. Right, right. I bet he is. What a weird background, right?"
