"A doctor shouldn't make the same as someone flipping hamburgers. But that's not the argument, nor has it ever been. The argument is that anyone in the United States working 40 hours a week deserves a living wage. Whether you're flipping hamburgers, whether you're a barista, whether you're a school teacher, whether you're a lawyer, an engineer, or a doctor, you deserve a living wage. That's not to say that every single occupation deserves the exact same salary. This is a classic strawman fallacy used to divide the working class and distract us from the real conversations, which are wage stagnation and growing income and wealth inequality."
