"Carmelo Anthony's legal team has officially filed two motions, one to have the judge who presided over the case removed from any further proceedings and two to have his sentence overturned. As it pertains to the judge being asked to recuse himself, they're saying that he made a statement to a local television station as well as a written statement to Fox News saying that he defends his verdict that he feels like Carmelo Anthony got a fair trial and the new legal team is saying that he cannot be a part of any post proceedings based on those statements because he would be biased since he already confirmed that he feels like the verdict was fair. In the second motion where they're asking for a new trial, they are saying that Carmelo Anthony's constitutional rights were violated and that they did not allow the trial to be accessible to the public and saying that the prosecutors essentially backed away from an off-the-record agreement that led to Carmelo Anthony not testifying on his own behalf. So it is official, the ball has started rolling as promised by his new legal team in the appeal process for Carmelo Anthony."
