"Three mistakes that turn a faultless car accident into a crime scene. Number one, fleeing. Even in a minor collision, the driver who flees the scene before exchanging information can be charged with a hit and run. If you're involved in an accident, you have a duty to stop. Drive away are not only the police likely to track you down, they'll probably have questions as to why you were in such a hurry to leave. Number two, failing to provide a specimen. The crash may not have been your fault, but if it attracts police attention, they're going to want to know if everybody was in a fixed state to drive. Refuse a breathalyzer or drugs test without a valid excuse and you'll be risking a criminal conviction, a driving ban, and even imprisonment regardless of your role in the collision. Number three, exaggerating the damage for your insurance. Editing photos or deliberately making damage worse in order to increase an insurance payout is a huge gamble. Insurers routinely investigate suspicious claims using repair records, metadata and previous claims.
