"Why does ICU rehabilitation matter? I'm Dale Needham, Medical Director of the Johns Hopkins Critical Care, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Program. Early ICU rehabilitation is incredibly important to improving our patient outcomes. Critically ill patients too frequently suffer from long lasting impairments in their physical, cognitive and mental health. Through partnering with our rehabilitation colleagues and starting early, ICU doctors and nurses, along with PTs, OT, speech pathologists, psychologists and rehabilitation doctors can work together as a team and improve our patient's recovery, get them back to home, moving better than ever as quickly as possible. ICU rehabilitation is so incredibly important, our patients need it and deserve it. Thank you."
