Thank you to everyone who attended my public meeting last night to talk about the state of our roads. Thanks also to @gloucestershirecc.bsky.social's highways department for answering your questions and sharing plans for progress. 1/2
"Last night I hosted my pothole meeting in Cheltenham. It was an opportunity for people to tell the County Council about their frustrations about the state of Cheltenham's roads and to give the County Council their credit. They fronted up, they gave us a presentation and they answered questions. They also took away some action points to go and have a look at certain roads that were reported by the dozens of people who attended the meeting. Now we can make some progress on potholes in the state of our roads. It's been a complaint for local people for such a long time, but some of you will recall that a few months ago I came here to Mulvern Road to report the fact that the road surface was looking frankly like a lunar landscape. But look at it now. Here we go. A lovely new road surface and it's now much safer for pedestrians, for cyclists, for people in cars and for people who have mobility issues as well. So it's a really important bit of progress, but I think we should try to replicate this across the rest of the town. So if you know where there are potholes that need to be filled in, let us know in the comments and we'll report them in to the County Council. Or you can do it yourself via the Fix My Street link which we will put in the post. So thanks to everyone who came along to the pothole meeting last night. Thank you to the County Council for fronting up and answering questions. Let's see if we can continue this campaign to make progress for the safety of Cheltenham's roads."
